New York City

There's this thick air
Covering the city,
But I've got to walk,
I've got to figure this out,
Made mistakes,
Past on chances I've should have taken,
Time on my side
In this darkness,
For now, nowhere I'm heading to,
It's cold, and I'm walking,
Walking through this mess.

For now,
Nothing is clear,
In the street tonight, all alone,
Dark.

No pressure to get me to cave in,
It's midnight and it's quiet,
And everything feels perfect,
Until I go back
And realize I haven't
Figured it out,
In this heartland, where's the heart now?
If only I had all the answers,
In this night, this walk,
In this fight to get myself
Back on my feet,
All these chances.

For now,
Nothing is clear,
In the street tonight, all alone,
Dark.

I've got places to go,
I've got love letters to write,
I've got roses to smell.

I've got too much to say,
I've got nothing at all,
I've got to figure this out.

Nothing is clear,
No lights lit,
Just walking
And leaving my footsteps behind,
In the street tonight,
This ache in my heart,
The spinning in my head.
