Confusion In The Dark

Her love, her disruption,
His hate, his confusion,
Missing confrontations
Because he woke up late,
Looking in, looking out,
Wondering where to hide,
Something's not right
As he held her hand,
Pushing for something other than a kiss,
Sum of all the opportunities he missed,
Working in, working out,
Leaving everyone behind.

Her sweetness, her misery,
His missing light, his pleasure,
Arriving early
Despite all the distractions,
She's living a double life,
But nobody knows,
Promiscuous and wanting it all,
Trying real hard to figure out what's wrong,
She' not determined, just selfish and cunning,
Working in, working out,
To keep everyone on her side.

Confusion in the dark,
Attempt to join these waves,
Nothing else matters,
Confusion in the dark.

We've tried to be
What others wished to see,
In plays and in private company,
We've lost and turned to sorrow,
All this time we've been transparent,
Blind to what we've done to ourselves,
Streamline,
Aching at the pit of our stomachs,
Too late for anything,
Just confused in the dark.
